| No. | TEAM - Top Needs | | | | | | | 1 | Miami Dolphins - WR,LT,DT,DE,CB | |
| Jake Long - OT - Michigan Well, we are one for one here at The NFL House, as we have had this pick sicne early February. Jake Long should bring this team another key part of this young offense, who now has a LT, a fast WR (Ted Ginn) a stud RB (Ronnie Brown) and hopefully a QB in John Beck. They have a strong nucleus, and should be back to competing in no time. | | | | | | | 2 | St. Louis Rams - WR,OT,DE,LB,CB | |
| Glenn Dorsey - DT - LSU This pick is still up for debate, but here are the 3 options of which could happen:
The Rams keep the Pick - Glenn Dorsey With Dorsey and Carriker in the middle, this defense could start to stop the run
The Falcons or Saints trade for the pick - Glenn Dorsey They Rams would get Chris Long instead, who isn't a bad prize to help on the outside. If the Saints trade, the Rams will get Chris Williams.
The Panthers, Ravens or Lions get the pick- Matt Ryan They Rams would look at Sedrick Ellis at 8, or OT Ryan Clady at 13 or 15. | | | | | | | 3 | Atlanta Falcons - QB,RB,DT,CB,S | | | Sedrick Ellis - DT - USC Again, the Falcons have many needs, and they are know to covet Glenn Dorsey. But here are the 3 options they might have.
They keep the Pick- Sedrick Ellis Ellis still provides that big DT upfront to anchor the defense and isn't that much of a drop off from Dorsey.
They flip-flop with the Rams- Glenn Dorsey They are known to like him and he could give them the playmaker upfront to make this defense legit again.
The Jets trade for the Pick- Darren McFadden The Jets get their man in McFadden ahead of the Raiders and the Falcons would get Leodis McKelvin, who they like. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 4 | Oakland Raiders - WR,OT,DT,DE,LB | | | Darren McFadden - RB - Arkansas Not as many trade rumors here, as they will either have a chance at McFadden or a DE like Vernon Gholston or Chris Long.
If McFadden's avaiable: They will take him, regardless of what their defense looks like or what Lane Kiffen says
If McFadden's not available: They will look at Chris Long because of his father also playing for Al Davis, and I doubt Al has forgotten all Howie did for him. | | | | | | | 5 | Kansas City Cheifs - WR,OT,DT,CB,S | | | Vernon Gholston - DE - Ohio State As far as I know, the Cheifs are not rumored to be in any trade discussions, so their pick should be whoever falls to them. I know however that they really like Vernon Gholston, and from what I'm hearing, he should be here at 5. They traded Jared Allen, so they must know that they will get a great DE to replace him here. But, they did get another 1st rounder, and an OT might not be their, so they could take one here. However, they like Gholston too much to pass on him. | | | | | | | 6 | New York Jets - QB,OT,DE,LB,CB | | | Chris Long - DE - Virginia They have many options, but really they should be only looking at 2 players and options.
They trade with Atlanta- Darren McFadden They know that he is the best RB in this class, and that their young offense is one playmaker away from being a solid unit, so McFadden makes a lot of sense here.
They keep the Pick - Chris Long Long make sense because he is versitile and can play DE or OLB in the 3-4, both of which are needs for this young team. | | | | | | | 7 | New England Patriots - WR,OT,LB,CB,S | | | Brandon Albert - OG - Virginia This pick is the most likely to be traded in the Top 10, as they Patriots don't have many needs, as they did almost go undefeated in the season.
The Ravens, Panthers, or Lions trade- Matt Ryan With Ryan still on the board, teams will be giving great offers for him, and the Pat's will take Albert still at 8, or Mike Jenkins at 13th and 15th.
They keep the Pick - Brandon Albert They like Albert a lot and he could give this offensive unit youth, versitility, and another true stud to keep this offense from getting sacked again (like in the Super Bowl) | | | | | | | 8 | Baltimore Ravens - QB,OT,DE,LB,CB | | | Matt Ryan - QB - Boston College If you can tell from my other picks above, the Ravens could trade up to ensure they get Matt Ryan. They like him according to some of my sources, but others say they like Joe Flacco too. If Ryan is here, they will look at him, but everyone said that about Brady Quinn to Miami last year. Ryan won't fall past here though, as some team will trade up for him.
If Ryan is not here - Leodis McKelvin They like McKelvin and he fills a need, and is arguably the best CB in this class. | | | | | | | 9 | Cincinnati Bengals - OT,DT,DE,LB,LB | | | Jerod Mayo - ILB - Tennessee They Bengals won't cry if Sedrick Ellis isn't here, but they won't be afraid to get him either. But, since he is gone to the Falcons, they should look Jerod Mayo at LB, who they like alot and can be a true stud LB at the NFL level. Mayo brings this team a good LB, who let go of Landon Johnson, lost David Pollack to retirement, and have Odell Thruman who hasn't played in a year.
If Sedrick Ellis is here- Sedrick Ellis They want him, and he can give this team a good front 4 on defense. | | | | | | | 10 | New Orleans Saints - OT,DT,LB,CB,S | | | Leodis McKelvin - CB - Troy They Saints are rumored to be obsessed with Glenn Dorsey, and could trade a lot to get him, including LT Jamaal Brown. I think that is a bit much.
They trade with St. Louis - Glenn Dorsey They would have to give up a lot, but he would give them a great interior lineman and a solid front 4.
They keep the Pick - Leodis McKelvin They rate him as the best CB, and would finally give this team some help at DB, which they have been so awful at the past few years. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 11 | Buffalo Bills - WR,OT,OG,LB,CB | | | Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie - CB - Tennessee St. Let me start off by saying that I have heard from many people that the Bills do NOT like any WR here at the number 11 pick, so Limas Sweed and Devin Thomas are all out. DRC can be this team's replacement for Nate Clements, and can take this unit from awful with bad starters, do a team with great depth at the position.
They trade with Philidelphia - Chris Williams The Eagles really like Williams, and know they won't get him at 19. The Bills would get Lito Sheppard and shore up their DB problems with a proven player, and still get a 2nd round or possibly a 1st rounder. If it is Philly's 1st rounder, they will take Limas Sweed there. | | | | | | | 12 | Denver Broncos - OT,OG,DT,LB,S | | | Chris Williams - OT - Vanderbilt They really like Chris Williams alot and aren't confident that they have a suitable LT to replace Matt Lepsis. Williams is quick and strong, both esential for the Denver zone blocking scheme. Williams will give this team the O-Line to really develop Jay Cutler into everything he can be.
If Chris Williams is not here - Ryan Clady I don't see them not taking a OT here, and Clady isn't a bad consolation prize here. | | | | | | | 13 | Carolina Panthers - QB,OT,DE,LB,S | | | Jonathan Stewart - RB - Oregon This might be a suprise to some, but with DeShaun Foster gone, this team loses any power running it had. Plus, DeAngelo Williams is very small, and I doubt he can handle the full load without getting injured. Stewart here would be like the Vikings taking Peterson last year, and could give this team a great 1-2 punch for many years.
If they trade with St. Louis, Atlanta, or New England Matt Ryan is very high on their boards, and they feel he is the best QB to come out in a while. They could give up a lot here to get him. | | | | | | | 14 | Chicago Bears - QB,RB,WR,DT,S | | | Ryan Clady - OT - Boise State The Bears need a lot of help on offense, and could go many directions. They need a WR to replace both Mushin Muhammed and Bernard Berrian, and they need a RB to help Cedric Benson. But, they most importantly need O-Line help, as both their OTs are over 30, and they can't be depnded on much long. Clady is a great fit here and can really help rebuild this offense.
If Clady is not here - Rashard Mendenhall They need help at RB with Benson not working out, and Mendenhall can be their new starter. | | | | | | | 15 | Detroit Lions - QB,OT,DE,LB,CB | | | Derek Harvey - DE - Florida The Lions are one team who has been pretty open about who they might take, and they are most likely looking at 2 options. Derek Harvey and Jerod Mayo. Mayo can help this LB corps, but Harvey is the kind of impact pass rusher than can change the outcome of the game on every snap.
If they trade with St. Louis, Atlanta, or New England They are rumored to like Matt Ryan a lot and are offering Roy Williams in that deal as well, which could be enticing for a team liek St. Louis or Atlanta. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 16 | Arizona Cardinals - OT,OG,DE,LB,CB | | | Jeff Otah - OT - Pittsburgh Even though they took Levi Brown a year ago, their offensive line isn't fixed yet. They still need that LT (Which is a RT in most other schemes, but the Cards have a lefty QB) to protect Matt Leinert on the front side. Also, another good OT will give Whisenhunt the option of putting in Kurt Warner when he pleases, as he will have two great OT on the outside. Mike Jenkins is an option, but they can get a CB later. Also, Mendenhall has drawn some consideration, but the Cards need an O-Line before a running game. | | | | | | | 17 | Kansas City Cheifs - WR,OT,DT,CB,S | | | Brian Brohm - QB - Louisville I truly beleive this is why the Cheifs traded with the Vikings. It was to get Brian Brohm at a reasonable point. If you look at it, they already got their replacement at DE for Jared Allen in Gholston. Also, they like Brohm a lot, and Brodie Croyle is no All-Pro QB. Offensive tackle could be an option, but Brohm is a perfect fit here, and they can get a good O-Lineman early in round 2. | | | | | | | 18 | Houston Texans - RB,WR,OT,CB,S | | | Rashard Mendenhall - RB - Illinois The Texans get very lucky here, as Mendenhall falls right into their laps. They need that gamebreaking RB, and even though they run a system similar to Mike Shanahans system in which RBs aren't key, a great one like Rashard can really put this team on the map. They would like an OT, but odds are none will be on the board here, so Mendenhall is the pick and can really dominate early on in his career. | | | | | | | 19 | Philadelphia Eagles - WR,OT,DE,CB,S | | | Limas Sweed - WR - Texas The Eagles have shyed away from taking a WR in the 1st round, but I think this is the year they start it back up again. Donovan McNabb asked for playmakers and the Eagles have to win now before it's Kevin Kolb's turn, so I think they go with the most game ready WR in Limas Sweed. I'm not as high on Devin Thomas as most are, because he only had one good year in college. Sweed is the safer pick, and can give the Eagles a great WR corps. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 20 | Tampa Bay Bucs - WR,OT,LB,CB,S | | | Devin Thomas - WR - Michigan State The Bucs don't have many needs, but have a ton of options here. I know they like Brian Brohm and Chad Henne alot, but Brohm is gone and Henne is a bit of a reach. I know they liek Jerod Mayo, but he's long gone by now. That leaves WR, where they are looking at Devin Thomas and a guy they are extreamly high on in Donnie Avery. Even though they really like Avery, they can't pass up Devin Thomas, who is fast, quick and has that deep threat ability they need. | | | | | | | 21 | Washington Redskins - WR,OT,DT,DE,S | | | Quinton Groves - DE - Auburn The Redskins have a very good defense all the way around, and are just missing out on one or 2 positions. They need a safety and a defensive end. Quinton Groves is a great option here, because he is the type of pass rusher they need for thei 4-3 set, as well as their 3-4 set in which he can play OLB too. Groves is a great option here, and even if they move down, Groves should still be their pick. | | | | | | | 22 | Dallas Cowboys - WR,OT,LB,CB,S | | | Felix Jones - RB - Arkansas I am really low on Felix Jones, simply because he played with Darren McFadden, and was never asked to be the star back in Arkansas. I have had Felix out of the 1st round many times, but I have finally given in. I know Jerry Jones is from Arkansas, and like Felix a lot, so I can't say honestly that Jones will pass up on Felix here. WR and CB are both options, but Jerry Jones won't mess around when it comes to drafting from his alma mater. | | | | | | | 23 | Pittsburgh Steelers - RB,OT,OG,DE,CB | | | Chico Rachal - OG - USC The Steeers don't have many needs. but a big one is their offensive line. With Alan Fanaca gone, they should look to replace him early on in the draft. Chico Rachal is a guy they really like alot, as he has great character and only came out of college because his mother is sick and needs the money. Rachal could fit in right away for Pittsburgh. | | | | | | | 24 | Tennessee Titans - WR,OT,DE,LB,CB | | | James Hardy - WR - Indiana With this wide receving unit one of the worst in the NFL, the Titans should look to address it early on. James Hardy is my favorite player in this draft, because he has great size, great speed, great intagables, and he has the stats in college to back it up. Vince Young needs some weapons, and Hardy is one of, if not THE, best WR in the bunch, as can be a red zone threat, as well as a homerun threat. | | | | | | | 25 | Seattle Seahawks - RB,WR,TE,DE,CB | | | Chris Johnson - RB - East Carolina The Seahawks are rumored to want to trade down, I think because they know they can get Chris Johnson later on in the draft.
If the Dolphins, Falcons, or Ravens trade up: They will take either Chad Henne or Joe Flacco, both of which should be gone by pick 32. If the Seahawks trade, they should get a lot in return, and still get their man in Chris Johnson. | | | | | | | 26 | Jacksonville Jaguars - WR,OT,DE,LB,CB | | | Phillip Merling - DE - Clemson The Jags need some help at DE, as they lost Bobby McCray this offseason, and he was (sadly) their best DE. Merling can provide this team with a solid DE who can both get after the passer and shut down the run on the outside.
If Merling is gone - Calais Campbell Campbell is high on their board and they might prefer him over Merling, so Campbell would be a nice pick if some team jumps over them to get Merling. | | | | | | | 27 | San Diego Chargers - OT,OG,DE,LB,S | | | Kenny Phillips - S - Miami(FL) The Chargers are in the prime spot to make out like bandits here, because they don't have any huge needs and they could get a lot from a team trying to get Chad Henne or Joe Flacco.
If the Dolphins, Falcons, or Ravens trade up: They will take either Chad Henne or Joe Flacco, both of which should be gone by pick 32. If the Chargers get this trade, they might get a 1st rounder next year, which would be ideal, but if they get a 2nd rounder they will still look for Kenny Phillips. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 28 | Dallas Cowboys - WR,OT,LB,CB,S | | | Aqib Talib - CB - Kansas What a steal here in getting Talib because he is one of the better CBs in this deep class. Talib has all the tools to be great, and if it wasn't for the pot smoking he does regularly, he could have gone as high as number 7 to the Patriots. The Cowboys got PacMan Jones, but he is no lock to either be in the league this year, or even be good enough to play once he returns. Talib makes sense all the way around, and can help this older defense make a smooth transition. | | | | | | | 29 | San Francisco 49ers - WR,OG,DE,LB,S | | | DeSean Jackson - WR - California This may be surprising to some, but Jackson is a great deep threat for the 49ers, and even though Mike Martz doesn't usually take smaller WRs, Jackson is too good as a returner and speed WR to pass up on here. Jackson can be a great WR for this team if they use him well, as he has the speed to take it deep every play. Think of Ted Ginn with better returning skills and better hands. Scary to think about huh? | | | | | | | 30 | Green Bay Packers - QB,OG,LB,CB,S | | | Mike Jenkins - CB - South Florida I know the Packers need and want a CB, but Dustin Keller is really enticing here. However, I have heard that many teams hate this year's draft class for TEs, and will wait much long to take one, and that probably includes the Packers. It also helps that a physical CB like Mike Jenkins is here, as he fits exactly what the Packers need, and can be their future CB to replace the aging Al Harris and Chales Woodson, both of which are over 32. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 31 | New England Patriots - RB,OT,LB,CB,S | | | FORFIETED DUE TO CHEATING SCANDEL IN WEEK ONE | | | | | | | 32 | New York Giants - OT,OG,DE,LB,S | | | Dan Connor - OLB - Penn State The Giants are the team who most feel is a lock to take Dan Connor. He is a perfect fit because he is a tough, hardnosed player, from Linebacker U, fits the Giants main need, is a player New York can fall in love with, and can make an impact early on. What is not to like about Connor? He could go higher than this, but I am 95 percent sure that if he is still around, he will either go to the Giants or someone will trade up for him. | |
